Hymn: Gonna Be Alright
Seize the Moment – Day 1243
Today’s new worship song focus will be
Gonna Be Alright
Romans 8:28 (NASB95)
“And we know that God causes all things to work together
for good to those who love God,
to those who are called according to His purpose.”
When was the last time you faced a difficulty, a storm or trial in your life? An hour ago? Or a day ago? Or a week ago? That is where this song comes from for Christian Music artist Ryan Ellis, as he was writing from a season of deep pain in his family. He shared the song with his friends and family, and they all could see how it spoke of God showing up and how He spoke peace into their hearts and lives.
Everything’s gonna be alright, everything’s gonna be alright
You hold me in your arms, until my storm is calm
Everything’s gonna be alright, hmmm, everything’s gonna be alright.

Hymn: Jesus Loves the Little Children
Seize the Moment – Day 1236
Today’s hymn focus will be
Jesus Loves the Little Children
Luke 18:16 (NASB95)
“But Jesus called for them, saying, “Permit the children to come to Me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these.”
Jesus loves the little children of the world.
We need to wake up and share this message of love with everyone around us, starting with the children! As school has begun, pray for our students, teachers, and administrators of our schools that Jesus’ love could be shared to bring hope, joy and peace into the lives of these precious gifts that God has given us.

Hymn: The Longer I Serve Him
Seize the Moment – Day 1229
Today’s hymn focus will be
The Longer I Serve Him
Deuteronomy 10:12 (NASB95)
“What does the Lord your God require from you, but to fear the Lord your God, to walk in all His ways and love Him, and to serve the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul.”
The longer I serve Him, the sweeter He grows; the more that I love Him,
More love He bestows; Each day is like heaven, my heart overflows.
The longer I serve Him, the sweeter He grows.
We need to wake up and declare as our testimony the words of this song. To share with those around us just how great and wonderful our God is, knowing that through trials and triumphs, through valleys or on mountain tops, He has been with us every step of the way.

Hymn: Word of God Speak
Seize the Moment – Day 1222
Today’s hymn focus will be
Word of God Speak
1 Corinthians 2:12-13 (NASB95)
“And we have received God’s Spirit (not the world’s spirit), so we can know
the wonderful things God has freely given us. When we tell you these things,
we do not use words that come from human wisdom. Instead, we speak
words given to us by the Spirit, using the Spirit’s words to explain spiritual
truths.”
Written in the summer of 2002, Bart Millard of MercyMe and the band were working at a church camp in Jekyll Island, Georgia while also working on their second album. He was feeling frustrated, feeling like all of the new songs sounded the same. He remembers waking up at 3 am with the first verse and the chorus on his heart and wrote them in a journal and went back to sleep.
It wasn’t until a few weeks later as they were wrapping up the album that they realized they needed one more song. A “nagging feeling” took him back to his journals where he found the song. Like “lightning in a bottle”, God gave him the rest of the song and they recorded that song with just piano and strings.
I’m finding myself at a loss for words
And the funny thing is, it’s okay
We need to wake up to the fact that our quiet time with God needs to be more than just a one-way conversation. We need to be silent and listen to what God is trying to tell us. Let Him get a word in edgewise, for it may be just what you need!

Hymn: In The Garden
Seize the Moment – Day 1215
Today’s hymn focus will be
In The Garden
John 20:14 (NASB95)
“When she had said this, she turned around and saw Jesus standing there, and did not know that it was Jesus.”
One day, in Sunday school, the children were asked if they knew God’s name. One little boy raised his hand to say, “I do! It’s Andy!” The teacher said, “Why do you say that?” to which he replied, “We sang it last week in church…Andy walks with me, Andy talks with me…” Oh, the imagination of a child!
But this hymn came to C. Austin Miles in March of 1912 as he was meditating on his favorite chapter of the Book of John, chapter 20. He said that as he was staring at the wall, his hand on his Bible, his mind took him to the entrance of a beautiful garden, picturing Mary standing there at the tomb of Jesus when Jesus appeared to her. Under the inspiration of this vision, he quickly wrote the words and later that evening, he composed the music.
And He walks with me, and He talks with me, And He tells me I am His own
And the joy we share as we tarry there, none other has ever known.
We need to wake up to the realization that Jesus promised to never leave us nor forsake us. This is why we know we can come to that place of peace and quiet to spend some time of communion each day with Him and be renewed in our love and strength.

While the dew is still on the roses;
And the voice I hear, falling on my ear,
The Son of God discloses.
And He walks with me, and He talks with me,

And the joy we share as we tarry there,
None other has ever known.
Is so sweet the birds hush their singing;
And the melody that He gave to me
Within my heart is ringing. [Refrain]
Tho’ the night around me be falling;
But He bids me go; thro’ the voice of woe,
His voice to me is calling. [Refrain]

Hymn: Since Jesus Came into My Heart
Seize the Moment – Day 1208
Today’s hymn focus will be
Since Jesus Came into My Heart
2 Corinthians 5:17 (NASB95)
“Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creature; the old things passed away; behold, new things have come.”
Rufus H McDaniel began writing hymns in the 1880’s, stating that he felt like God had something for him to do to help brighten the experience of struggling souls. He wanted his hymns to bring blessing and glory to God in the name of his dear Son, whose he was and whom He served. He wrote this song in 1914 after the tragic loss of his son. He sent the song to Charles H Gabriel, who composed the melody that we know today.
Since Jesus came into my heart,
since Jesus came into my heart
Floods of joy o’er my soul like the sea billows roll
Since Jesus came into my heart
We need to wake up and remember that no matter what we have faced, or are facing, or will be facing in the near future, we need to sing God’s praises! He brought about change in our lives; He has given us direction; and He will be coming back to take us all home to live with Him for eternity. That should bring you joy!

Hymn: Sing to the King
Seize the Moment – Day 1201
Today’s hymn focus will be
Sing to the King
Psalm 96:1-2 (NASB95)
Sing to the Lord a new song; Sing to the Lord, all the earth.
Sing to the Lord, all the bless His name;
Proclaim good tidings of His salvation from day to day.”
This hymn was originally written in the early 1900’s by Charles Sylvester Horne, the youngest child of Charles and Harriet. He grew up to become a renowned preacher and author, writing hymns that are still sung today.
This is where Billy Foote comes in. He began leading worship after graduating from East Texas Baptist University in 1990. Sadly, he was stricken with hyper-dysphonia, a condition that affected his vocal cords, around 2000, his wife Cindy took over the lead vocals as he continued to write worship songs. He took this classic hymn and gave it a modern style.
Sing to the King Who is coming to reign,
Glory to Jesus the Lamb that was slain
Life and salvation His empire shall bring,
And joy to the nations when Jesus is King
We need to wake up and lift up our voices every day in worship of the One that gave His everything so that we might have life and have it to the fullest. Billy may have lost his ability to sing, but he gave the church songs that remind us why we are to sing!

Glory to Jesus, to Jesus our King.
Races long severed his love shall unite,
Justice and truth from his sceptre shall spring,
Wrong shall be ended when Jesus is King.
Freedom shall flourish and wisdom increase,
Foe shall be friend when his triumph we sing,
Sword shall be sickle when Jesus is King.
Doubt shall not darken his witness within,
Hell hath no terrors, and death hath no sting;
Love is victorious when Jesus is King.
Hasten, O Father, the dawn of the day
When this new song thy creation shall sing,
Satan is vanquished and Jesus is King.

Hymn: O Come to the Altar
Seize the Moment – Day 1194
Today’s modern-day hymn focus will be
O Come to the Altar
1 Peter 5:6-7 (NASB95)
“ Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you at the proper time, casting all your anxiety on Him, because He cares for you.”
Released in early 2016 from Elevation Worship, the musical group from Elevation Church in Charlotte, NC, this song is a call to anyone to come to the loving arms of Jesus. They wanted people to know that Jesus came for the broken, the messy, the sinner and they are invited to meet Him at the altar. The altar is the place where anyone is able to find forgiveness from their sins and respite from their burdens. This song is a wonderful, powerful reminder of the comfort of the gospel.
O come to the altar The Father’s arms are open wide
Forgiveness was bought with the precious blood of Jesus Christ
We need to wake up and rejoice in the fact that because of Jesus and what He did for us, we are a new creation. We need to let others know of this treasure and that it is for anyone who would come to Him and receive this gift.

Hymn: This is Amazing Grace
This is Amazing Grace
“We know that our old sinful selves were crucified with Christ so that sin
might lose its power in our lives. We are no longer slaves to sin. 7 For when we
died with Christ we were set free from the power of sin.”
In 2010, Josh Farro reached out to Phil Wickham about getting together to write a worship song. The met up, sang some songs together in worship, then shared their ideas and concepts and that became the bones for the song. In about 20
minutes time, they had come up with the chorus and some verse ideas. But it wasn’t until their friend Jeremy Riddle of Bethel Church heard it and asked If he could rework it that the song became what it is today…a celebration anthem of
This is amazing grace, this is unfailing love
That You would take my place, that You would bear my cross
You laid down Your life that I would be set free
Oh, Jesus I sing for all that You’ve done for me.
We need to wake up and rework our worship, making it into an anthem of praise to Jesus for all that He has, is and is going to do in our lives. When the world hears this message of grace and love, it is sure to be contagious and they will want to know more.

Hymn: Jesus Paid it All
Seize the Moment – Day 1180
Today’s modern hymn focus will be
Jesus Paid it All
Hymn 150
Isaiah 1:18 (NASB95)
“Come now, let’s settle this,” says the Lord.
“Though your sins are like scarlet,
I will make them as white as snow.
Though they are red like crimson,
I will make them as white as wool.”
This hymn, written in 1865, came to Elvina M Hall while she was sitting in the choir loft of Monument Methodist Episcopal Church in Baltimore. The story is told that one Sunday morning, with an extremely long pastoral prayer and a continuous sermon, Elvina’s thoughts began to wander. She wrote down this poem in the blank flyleaf of her hymnal. She later showed them to the pastor,
who, unbeknownst to her, has been met with the church organist John Grape earlier in the week who had given him a musical score that had no words, but thought he might be able to use in the future. When Reverend Schrick placed two together, they fit like a hand in a glove.
Jesus paid it all, all to Him I owe,
sin had left a crimson stain,
He washed it white as snow.
We need to wake up and realize that this song reminds us that there is nothing we can do to earn our salvation. Jesus gave His all in order for us to have it all… Life, Love, Hope, Joy, Peace, and have it to the fullest.

Jesus Paid It All
I hear the Savior say,
“Thy strength indeed is small;
Child of weakness, watch and pray,
Find in Me thine all in all.”
Sin had left a crimson stain,
He washed it white as snow.
Lord, now indeed I find
Thy power and Thine alone,
Can change the leper’s spots
And melt the heart of stone.
Sin had left a crimson stain,
He washed it white as snow.
For nothing good have I
Whereby Thy grace to claim,
I’ll wash my garments white
In the blood of Calv’ry’s Lamb.
Sin had left a crimson stain,
He washed it white as snow.
And now complete in Him
My robe His righteousness,
I’ll rejoice with all my might,
I am now divinely blest.
Sin had left a crimson stain,
He washed it white as snow.
And when before the throne
I stand in Him complete,
“Jesus died my soul to save,”
My lips shall still repeat.
Sin had left a crimson stain,
He washed it white as snow.

Hymn: Jesus Messiah
Seize the Moment – Day 1173
Today’s modern hymn focus will be
Jesus Messiah
Hymn 149
2 Corinthians 5:21 (NASB95)
“He made Him who knew no sin to be sin on our behalf, so that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.”
The initial lyrics and melody from this song came from Chris Tomlin’s guitarist, Daniel Carson, that he shared with Chris and his team of Ed Cash & Jesse Reeves. This song uses the name “Messiah”, declaring that Jesus’ Name is the Name above all names – that He is the Christ, the Son of God, the Chosen One, the Savior of the world. They drew their inspiration from the Scriptures that were very specific in describing Who Christ truly is in our lives.
Jesus Messiah, Name above all names. Blessed Redeemer, Emmanuel
The rescue for sinners, the ransom from Heaven Jesus Messiah, Lord of all
This is a message that everyone needs to hear. With so much in the world that is trying to divide us, we need to wake up to the fact that there is only One who will bring us together…Jesus! He is our Living Hope and the One who bring us life, joy and peace.

Hymn: Great Things
Great Things
Hymn 147
Psalm 40:5 (NASB95)
“Many, O Lord my God, are the wonders which You have done, and Your thoughts toward us; There is none to compare with You. If I would declare and speak of them, they would be too numerous to count.”
Come let us worship our King Come let us bow at His feet
He has done great things. See what our Savior has done
See how His love overcomes He has done great things
He has done great things
We need to wake up to the fact that God has been, is, and always will be faithful and to put our full trust in Him. God is bigger than all our problems, fears and situations and He will be there every step of the way with us.

truth, they set part of Matthew 6 to a melody with a gospel flair.

meat, he began writing down and sing “The blood that Jesus shed for me, way back on Calvary…” But he thought it wasn’t good, so he wadded up the paper and threw it away. But his sister Sandra pulled it back out and told him it was good and he should finish it.

Hymn: All Creatures of Our God and King
Seize the Moment – Day 1138
Today’s hymn focus will be
All Creatures of Our God and King
Luke 19:40 (NASB95)
“ But Jesus answered, “I tell you, if these become silent, the stones will cry out!”
This hymn is attributed to St. Francis of Assisi written just before his death in 1225 AD, exhorting all creation to worship God. Born in Italy to a rich merchant in 1182 AD, he came to Christ in his early 20’s after being released from the prisoner of war camp. Renouncing his inheritance, he began traveling the countryside, preaching the gospel to everyone he met, seeking to make Christ real, while living simply and loving nature.
It wasn’t until 1919 that an English version appeared when Rev. William H Draper used it for a children’s worship festival in Leeds, England.
All creature of our God and King,
Lift up your voice and with us sing
Alleluia, Alleluia

Hymn: Christ Our Hope in Life and Death
Seize the Moment – Day 1131
Today’s modern hymn focus will be
Christ Our Hope in Life and Death
1 Corinthians 15:20 (NASB95)
Hymn 143
“ But now Christ has been raised from the dead, the first fruits of those who are asleep.”
This modern-day hymn was written in 2020 by a group of songwriters from the Getty Music group. In a time where things in life appeared to be dark and grim, they wanted to create a song that reminds us of the hope of the resurrection. Our hope comes from putting our trust in the One who took on death, then crushed its power by His resurrection. We as Christians can sing hallelujah because we have the hope and promise of a glorious future.
What is our hope in life and death? Christ alone, Christ alone.
What is our only confidence? That our souls to Him belong

Our hope springs eternal;
O sing hallelujah!
Now and ever we confess
Christ our hope in life and death.
God is good, God is good.
Where is his grace and goodness known?
In our great Redeemer’s blood.
Who holds our faith when fears arise?
Who stands above the stormy trial?
Who sends the waves that bring us nigh
Unto the shore, the rock of Christ?
Unto the grave, what shall we sing?
“Christ, he lives; Christ, he lives!”
And what reward will heaven bring?
Everlasting life with him.
There we will rise to meet the Lord,
Then sin and death will be destroyed,
And we will feast in endless joy,
When Christ is ours forevermore.

Hymn: How Firm a Foundation
Seize the Moment – Day 1124
Today’s hymn focus will be
How Firm a Foundation
Hebrews 13:6(NASB95)
“so that we confidently say, “The Lord is my helper, I will not be afraid. What will man do to me?”
In 1787 Dr. John Rippon and his Minister of Music, Robert Keene, developed a church hymnal for Carter’s Lane Baptist Church in Bristol, England. While the author of the hymn only bears the letter “K”, many hymnologists and scholars attribute the song to Keene.
The power of this hymn is because the verses are based on biblical promises, starting with the first stanza of the sufficiency of God’s Word for our faith. It goes on to personalize more promises from His Word for each and every one of us.
How firm a foundation, ye saints of the Lord.
Is laid for your faith in His excellent Word!
What more can He say than to you He hath said
To you who for refuge to Jesus have fled?
We need to wake up each and every day by standing on the promises that God has given us. And you can only know what those promises are when you make it a habit of reading His Word to start your day. What is the best vitamin for a healthy Christian life? B -1!

How Firm a Foundation
Is laid for your faith in His excellent Word
What more can He say than to you He hath said
To you who for refuge to Jesus have fled
For I am thy God and will still give thee aid
I’ll strengthen thee, help thee, and cause thee to stand
Upheld by My righteous, omnipotent hand
The rivers of sorrow shall not overflow
For I will be with thee, thy troubles to bless
And sanctify to thee thy deepest distress
My grace all sufficient shall be thy supply
The flame shall not hurt thee; I only design
Thy dross to consume and thy gold to refine
I will not, I will not desert to its foes
That soul, though all hell should endeavor to shake
I’ll never, no never, no never forsake

Hymn: Christ Arose
Seize the Moment – Day 1117
Today’s hymn focus will be
Christ Arose
Hymn 141
Matthew 27:64(NASB95)
“Therefore, give orders for the grave to be made secure until the third day, otherwise His disciples may come and steal Him away and say to the people, ‘He has risen from the dead,’ and the last deception will be worse than the first.”
The Chief priests and the Pharisees were playing the political game by going to Pilate to have him post guards and seal the tomb to prevent anyone from coming to take His body in order to fake His resurrection. There was distrust.
Imagine being there with the disciples, friends, and family of Jesus as they are in the second day of mourning His death. It was the sabbath day, so they could not do anything to care for His body because of Jewish laws and customs. All they could do was wait. There was despair.
However, the hymnist Robert Lowry describes a different point of view where there is hope. He painted a picture that would thrill an audience with his vivid descriptions, inspiring people with the thoughts that inspired him.
Low in the grave He lay, Jesus my Savior! Waiting the coming day,
Jesus my Lord!
Vainly they watched His bed, Jesus my Savior! Vainly they sealed the dead,
Jesus my Lord!

Christ Arose
waiting the coming day, Jesus my Lord!
Up from the grave he arose;
with a mighty triumph o’er his foes;
he arose a victor from the dark domain,
and he lives forever, with his saints to reign.
He arose! He arose! Hallelujah! Christ arose!
vainly they seal the dead, Jesus my Lord! [Refrain]
he tore the bars away, Jesus my Lord! [Refrain]

Hymn: Hosanna!
Seize the Moment – Day 1110
Today’s modern-day hymn focus will be
Hosanna!
Hymn 140
Matthew 21:9(NASB95)
“The crowds going ahead of Him, and those who followed, were shouting, “Hosanna to the Son of David; Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord; Hosanna in the highest!”
As we look forward to Palm Sunday tomorrow, we need to prepare our hearts in worship. This hymn was written in 2006 by Brooke Fraser Ligertwood, painting a picture with words of how she saw people worshiping Jesus. Each verse starts as a proclamation of “I see…”, depicting what could be if people allowed God to work in their lives. Just as important, it goes on to demonstrate a heartfelt desire for revival, having the singers cry out for us to be shown how to love and to do everything for the kingdom of God.
Heal my heart and make it clean, open up my eyes to the things unseen
Show me how to love like you have loved me.

Hosanna!
I see the King of glory
Coming on the clouds with fire
The whole earth shakes
The whole earth shakes
I see His love and mercy
Washing over all our sin
The people sing
The people sing
Hosanna Hosanna
Hosanna in the highest
Hosanna Hosanna
Hosanna in the highest
I see a generation
Rising up to take their place
With selfless faith
With selfless faith
I see a near revival
Stirring as we pray and seek
We’re on our knees
We’re on our knees
Open up my eyes to the things unseen
Show me how to love
Like You have loved me
Everything I am
For Your kingdom’s cause
As I walk from earth into eternity

Hymn: Lead Me To Calvary
Seize the Moment – Day 1103
Today’s hymn focus will be
Lead Me To Calvary
1 Corinthians 2:2 (NASB95)
“For I determined to know nothing among you except Jesus Christ, and Him crucified.”
Many of the gospel songs of the nineteenth century were focused upon the cross and specifically Calvary, which remained central to the evangelicals even into the mid-twentieth century. Today’s hymn was written by New England Quaker Jennie Evelyn Hussey and was published in 1921. She created a compelling and memorable refrain with direct and evocative language and had a singable and easily learned melody to help solidify the theme in the singer’s mind and heart.
Lest I forget Gethsemane; Lest I forget Thine agony.
Lest I forget Thy love for me, lead me to Calvary
Jennie lived a selfless life, caring for an invalid sister, never complaining while serving her with love as Christ would have done.

Lead Me to Calvary
King of my life I crown thee now —
Thine shall the glory be;
Lest I forget thy thorn-crowned brow,
Lead me to Calvary.
Lest I forget Gethsemane,
Lest I forget thine agony,
Lest I forget thy love for me,
Lead me to Calvary.
Show me the tomb where thou wast laid,
Tenderly mourned and wept;
Angels in robes of light arrayed
Guarded thee whilst thou slept.
Lest I forget Gethsemane,
Lest I forget thine agony,
Lest I forget thy love for me,
Lead me to Calvary.
Let me like Mary, thru the gloom,
Come with a gift to thee;
Show to me now the empty tomb —
Lead me to Calvary.
Lest I forget Gethsemane,
Lest I forget thine agony,
Lest I forget thy love for me,
Lead me to Calvary.
May I be willing, Lord, to bear
Daily my cross for thee;
Even thy cup of grief to share —
Thou hast borne all for me.
Lest I forget Gethsemane,
Lest I forget thine agony,
Lest I forget thy love for me,
Lead me to Calvary.

Hymn: Blessed Be The Name
Seize the Moment – Day 1096
Today’s song focus will be
Blessed Be The Name
Psalm 72:18-19 (NASB95)
“ Blessed be the Lord God, the God of Israel, Who alone works wonders. And blessed be His glorious name forever; And may the whole earth be filled with His glory. Amen, and Amen.”
Taking a song and using part of its lyrics to create a new song is nothing new. In fact there is a current song that takes the titles of several hymns and create a new song of worship (Check out “This is My Song” by North Point Worship). In 1888, Ralph Hudson took Charles Wesley’s hymn “O For A Thousand Tongues To Sing” that was written in 1739 and gave it a new spin by adding in the phrase “blessed be the name of the Lord” into the verses and creating a new chorus. William Kirkpatrick wrote the new accompaniment for this hymn that has been in the Baptist hymnbook ever since.
Blessed be the name, blessed be the name, blessed be the name of the Lord!
Blessed be the name, blessed be the name, blessed be the name of the Lord!
We need to wake up to the fact that it is not the style of the song, but the content of the words that lead us to proclaim God’s glory and majesty. So whether you are a little bit country, or a little bit rock and roll, or somewhere in between, we are all called to worship God!

Hymn: Knowing You, Jesus
Seize the Moment – Day 1089
Today’s song focus will be
Knowing You, Jesus
Philippians 3:8 (NASB95)
“ More than that, I count all things to be loss in view of the surpassing value of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and count them but rubbish so that I may gain Christ,”
Released on May 16, 2010, this modern-day hymn was written by Graham Kendrick. He had begun reading the book of Philippians after being asked to write a specific song to go along with the Bible readings and teachings for an upcoming conference. As he mediated and asked God to reveal anything that might be a seed for a song, his attention was drawn to today’s scripture. After listing all his accomplishments, Paul dramatically pushes them aside for the sake of one supreme goal – to know Christ Jesus.
Knowing you, Jesus. Knowing you, there is no greater thing
You’re my all, you’re the best You’re my joy, my righteousness
And I love you, Lord
We need to wake up and desire to have the same drive as the Apostle Paul. It is not about us and what we have done, but what Christ has done and continues to do in and through us. May God receive all the glory, honor and praise for what we do and say each and every day!

Knowing You, Jesus
All I once held dear, built my life upon
All this world reveres and wars to own;
All I once thought gain I have counted loss,
Spent and worthless now compared to this.
Chorus
Knowing You, Jesus, knowing You
There is no greater thing
You’re my all, You’re the best
You’re my joy, my righteousness,
And I love You Lord.
Verse 2
Now my heart’s desire is to know You more,
To be found in You and known as Yours,
To possess by faith what I could not earn
All surpassing gift of righteousness
Chorus
Knowing You, Jesus, knowing You
There is no greater thing
You’re my all, You’re the best
You’re my joy, my righteousness,
And I love You Lord.
Verse 3
Oh to know the power of Your risen life,
And to know You in Your sufferings;
To become like You in Your death, my Lord,
So with You to live and never die.
Chorus
Knowing You, Jesus, knowing You
There is no greater thing
You’re my all, You’re the best
You’re my joy, my righteousness,
And I love You Lord.
