Acts 11

Seize the Moment – Day 121

The Pairing of Faith and God’s Indwelling!

Good morning! This is Pastor Jerry Ingalls from New Castle First Baptist Church and today is Thursday, July 16.

A short leadership update before our morning devotional. As I announced yesterday afternoon, your elders and officers met Monday night and agreed to re-start FBC’s Adult Sunday School Classes this Sunday, July 19. Our front doors will open at 9 am and classes will begin at 9:15 am. Each class’ teacher will decide if they are meeting and will ensure their class is safe for you to attend. Therefore, if you are part of an existing class, please contact your Sunday School teacher to learn more. My class will be open and available to anyone who wants to come. We’ll meet in the Chapel from 9:15-10. As our communities remain in Stage 4.5 through at least the end of July, everyone is invited, wanted, welcomed to attend our worship service, which begins at 10:30 am. If that is not yet an option for you, please join us online.

Barnabas was a man of great encouragement. He is the kind of friend we all need to have and I hope we can each be for others. Barnabas is described in Acts 11:24 as “a good man, full of the Holy Spirit and of faith, and a great many people were added to the Lord.”

God uses real people with real faith in real history to do great and mighty works for His glory. God can use your friendships!

Jesus taught the disciples in John 14:23, “If anyone loves me, he will keep my word, and my Father will love him, and we will come to him and make our home with him.” Faith and the indwelling of the Holy Spirit are paired together in the Bible. We see evidence of this promised indwelling in Barnabas’ life.

Are you a person of faith? Is there evidence of God’s Spirit being at work in and through you?

Seize the moment and be an encourager to someone today. Be a good friend who points people to Jesus.
